Welcome 2026 . . .

The historic D.D. Collins House will be open from 10 to 4 on Saturday, June 6 during the annual Horseradish Festival. It’s a perfect time to take a step back in history and learn about our community’s history and heritage.

We have a free coloring book available when you visit the D.D. Collins House. The pages are filled with patriotic scenes to celebrate the founding of our nation.

In 1868 what we now call Memorial Day began as Decoration Day. It was meant to remember the men who answered the call and served in the Civil War for both sides. During the Civil War we lost more Americans than any war before or since. In late May, people in towns across the country walked, rode, and took carriages to local cemeteries to lay flowers on the graves of the men who fought and did not come home.
We honor and remember those who answered the call to fight for our freedom and paid the ultimate price so we can enjoy life today.
